new cd player

I am looking to get a new cd player because I want to have subs and want to be able to control them. I have the stock bose system which I love, so I want to keep them in. I talked to a guy at one of the local audio stores and was told I have to have a Bose conversion kit whichis 50$. Including the kit, wiring harness, and installation the estimate came to $150 without + whatever the cd player costs. I was wondering if the conversion kit was necessary, if so is it something i can do myself or leave to professionals, and what type of cd players you all have and which one to stay away from.

Go to www.crutchfield.com
You will find everything you need to complete the install & it is so easy I suggest you do it yourself. And it won't cost you no where near $150 dollars. Look at it this way, if your willing to spend the additional $150 you can put that towards a better head unit.
Dashkit
Wiring harness
Antenna adapter
Even a CD player if you find one you like. I suggest any Alpine model with
Bass engine pro
3 set's of 4V preouts
User friendly EQ
Good luck!!!
