How to wire a 3 post toggle switch?

I know this will be easy for you guys but how do you wire a toggle switch with 3 leads on the back.

Its set up like below.

1 2 3

| | |

The second post it taller than the other ones. Thanks

posts 1 and 3 (shorter posts) are normally open and normally closed circuits. wire the switch with either 1 and 2 or with 2 and 3.

it would be an on-off-on switch or a forward-off-reverse. each of the pairs of posts should be a positive and a ground and on 1 and 3 those go to whatever you want to run. 2 is where your power input goes with a ground. let me state that I am NOT positive on these statements, but without me holding it and testing it with a multimeter then this is my best guess.

if you're talking about a simple rocker switch (either clicked left or clicked right) then the middle is accessory for the illumination of the switch (that is assuming it is illuminated) far left is power, and far right is either ground or the rest of the power connection to your device.
