I installed some lowering springs (3") on my 95 Maxima. I didn't notice it at first but now there seems to be a lot of bounce. I've had them on for about a month. I did not install new struts...if I did, would this help the problem? As is right now, when I hit a bump while traveling 55mph +/- the car will bounce up and down 4 or 5 times before lining back out. Its like a roller coaster ride. Any advice?

What kind of springs? Are you saying you lowered 3"?

If there is alot of bounce then it might be the struts.

Did you cut your springs? Because there are no springs that'll drop your Max 3".

I did not cut the springs, here is what they are:

Sprint 2.00 Lowering Coils (I guess the 2.00 means 2", I was told they were 3" when I bought them)

Your struts are shot to hell. All that bouncing is dangerous. During a bumpy turn or lane change, the bouncing will constantly be changing your suspension geometry. This will result in anthing from bump oversteer to a very unsettling feeling in the steerwheel. I suspect those sprint springs have to be fairly stiff to handle the 2" drop(or maybe they are just stiff) Anyway it's obvious that they made the stock shocks work way to hard and wore then out super fast. Replace shocks w/ Tokicos(min) or Konis(best). Or if on a budget, use Konis in the front and maybe Tokicos or KYBs in the rear.

thanks for the help. I'll have to make an appointment to get the struts replaced.

So...were my old struts ready to go and the new coils just put them over the edge? I just want to make sure that brand new struts aren't going to do the same thing any time soon.

Hmm 1995 Maxima with what at least 60-70,000? Yep probably already worn out and the Sprints just made that fact more apparent.

Well performance springs are always harder on shocks but the Tokicos and Konis are designed around higher performance springs and they are you only real choice anyway. If you went stock nissan shocks again, they would probably wear out again in 1-2 years.

is there any reason why you chose this combo? im planning on dropping my car sooner or later and just doing the basic research.

Konis for the front: Becuase there are no other shocks that can be stiffer. The Tokicos are a little soft for the maxima heavy front end.

The rears support WAY LESS weight so IMHO, most any quality shocks would do.
