AHh cant get my starter out!

Ok, so im doing the starter noise fix. ( http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/516 )
i have everything out, well the whole intake setup, and battery and i think i've given myself enough room. But there are a bunch of hoses and lines like right there where a wrench would go, so i cant use a wrench, so i go with the socket wrench with an extention so i can get them out, wont budge...wd-40...still wrong budge, few taps with a hammer, still wont...i actually ended up messing up the end of the socket and the head of the bolt is getting pretty beat from hittin it with the hammer.. I need some imput on this one. Im thinking maybe i could move some of those hoses and lines that are keeping my trusty wrench outa the way? But i dont know exactly what they are. If you guys got any ideas help me out pleasee i need to fix this noise.

PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench would be a better solvent than WD40. Sorry I can't offer any more info but good luck and hopefully someone else who's done this can help you out further.

Use a 1/2 inch drive 6 point socket and a breaker bar.

yes a break bar is needed. It took me a while to get mine out (damn air tools),

I got mine out with a half inch on the bolt, plus a 6" break bar, and man did that still take some torque.

Removing Starter

I had the exact same problem. I had everything taken out of the engine compartment. I removed one of the starter bolts without a problem, but the second bolt would not come out... PERIOD...

I tried oil, WD-40.. etc..

I finally got a 1/2" SOCKET.. and a 3 ft breaker bar. I pulled so hard on that thing I thought I was going to break something and finally the bolt came loose. I almost fell on my a$$ when the bolt came loose.

Make sure you follow the required torque specs. when re-tightening the starter bolts. Each bolt has a different torque spec. I think the short bolt has a lower torque spec.
