My painted rims for $30. Tell me what you think!

I followed Ludacris' how-to on painting your rims and I did them yesterday. It cost me a total of about $30 for everything. I think it's an awesome mod and I think for anything who can't afford rims right now, it looks awesome. And don't worry about my front end, lol, I got in a little accident. I know I need a new hood/bumper/grill. Just look at the rims! I still need to clean up the edges a bit with some paint thinner and make them a little neater, but I think they came out good. And I think they look much better than stock. Here are the pics:

The pictures are slightly blurring, but they look awesome especially on a white car. I've been thinking about getting the 16" wheels, they look better than the sawblades and painting them maybe an alternative for now hmmm.

Nice work!

Yeah I think I might end up painting the centercap, but I wasn't sure what would look better. But I'll prolly paint them tonight if I have enough paint left. Here are some clearer pictures.

I used duplicolor graphite paint, and duplicolor clear. They were I believe like 5 dollars a can, and I used one can of each. Just follow Ludacris' directions. I taped off more of the lip though. I overhanged the tape and went around the inside of the rim with a razorblade and cut the tape, then sprayed it. If you have any questions, just PM me. Just make sure that you sand the h ell out of the rims because I had to repaint them a couple times because of the paint not sticking. Make sure they're completely dry before painting.

nice job. did you use aircraft stripper to get the original layer of paint off? i was thinking about painting my rims over the original layer of paint. i figured it would be okay as long as the surface was clean (or do you actually have to remove the paint?)

I'm doing mine tomorrow. I wanted to do them black but I'll have to settle for graphite. Everything cost like $16. We'll see how the saw blades look painted.

Take pictures ASAP. it if looks good I may just paint my sawblades. Still rather have the 16s though, but I'm poor.

I'll be taking pics as I go. The second coat I'm putting on is black(not wheel paint) so I'll take pics of how that looks too. Painting the calipers black as well.

Black on the sawblades? I was always wondering how it would have looked if I painted my wheels black..

I like the way that you left the rim that color so that it looks like a machined lip. Looks really good.
I actually like the way that you left the center caps a different color than the wheels. I think it is a good accent and compliment for the machined lip.

What is up with your hood?
It looks kind of messed up?

Unfortunatley the sawblades will have to look stock for another day. I have to go out of town for a few hours to help my cousin. He was in an accident a few days ago and the lady that hit had no insurance. We wants me to drive him around to a few body shops to check out some prices. Tomorrow morning, 8am the painting begins.

are you planning on doing the AE mod to the headlights and corners, it would look **** w/ the rims, i the love black & white contrast.
you should go all out and do you signals, rear lights, maybe even some trim pieces or the door handles.
I also like the machined lip look you left, good job man, looks like quality work
