5spd Conversion question

5spd Conversion question
I am planning on doing a 5 speed conversion in the near future, and was wondering if the 00 - 01 manual trannies will work and bolt right on, while the other conversion parts remain 4th gen...? and also is the gearing for the 5th gen 5spds the same as the 4th gens ? Thanks.

And as for the gear ratios, they are exactly the same. But the 2000-2001 has a stronger 3rd gear and no wheel bearing issues to boot. Excellent choice. The max I'm about to buy has one of these.
You can buy the axles from autozone, napa, or raxles.com.

This is exciting, the main reasons i'm going with a 5th gen tranny is because of the bearing issues, and also the 5th gens are more than likely going to have lower mileage, and be in better condition..!

How many people have done the 6Spd in the 4th gens? I know there are at least 3. Who? I'm interested but wanna hear the opinions of the people that have done it. I can't dig up anything. If its more than 400 more than the 5Spd then I won't be doing it. So, my questions are: Is the work worth the extra gear? Is the extra gear selection unecessary? Is better gearing negated by the extra shift? Has the extra gear improved times in road racing? Let me say that I totally worship those of you that have done any swap let alone the 6Spd. I will be joining the 5Spd club in the next six months for sure and maybe opt for the six speed but I would think that the 6Spd is set up for the VQ35 powerband. Anyone?
About the 5th gen, is the speed sensor the only difference. Shift linkage, axles, etc.. all the same? It makes since seeing as the block is the same but just wanna make sure. The question is though: There may be more 5th gen 5Spds w/ low miles but they are in more demand and newer and therefore more pricey. Many a 4th gen 5Spd can be found for pocket change. If they have high miles then rebuild it with nice stuff.

I always wondered if the bell housing on a 6SP was the same as the 5SP. Hell, I might just do it!!

Look what I found. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/181080/1, Thats maximus75. Of course he owns Maximum Tuning so this may not be something your everday mechanic can do. Somebody should try to contact him and post his reply. I might if nobody else does, but I'm to lazy to right now.
