cant see your front very well on your site so i wont comment on that

consider redding your tail lights out with Testors 'candy apple red' thats what i did and i love the look (all the lights including reverse are red on my car)

Your car is def a 97, the steering wheel, the front bumper and grille show a 97. Whoever fixed the car from the accident must have messed up the number or that was the rear they found.

rear bumper is 97-99 too....however the car must be a 95 unless the rear quarter panels were replaced which is doubtfull....the tailights are different 95-96 tails would fit in a 97 so the body must be a 95-96.....or is it?? where did u get this car????

man you've been on the org for (now) 247 posts and you did not recognize you had different taillights?

I'm not flaming you, but I find that kind of odd! ???

as for your tails, i would smoke em, OR you could swap your trunk and lights to 97-99 so it will match up with your bumper...

good luck to you!

Yeah man just spraypaint the orange with the testors translucent apple red. I think it looks way better than the stock 95-96 amber and red tail.

NYC_Maxima97, nothing to do with the lights but get rid of that inside light.....sorry lol it just looks awful with the spoiler attached.

Anyway, you can always re-convert back to a 97-99 if you don't mind spending the extra money for the trunk and lights. Which would also fix your leaky trunk.

how would you get rid if it? if you take off the light, there would be a hole in place of it on the back dash. im planning on adding an oem spoiler to my car and i have that extra rear light as well.

Go to your local Nissan Stealership and they will give you this plastic thing which will slide in and cover up the hole. They have all 3 colors but a pricey little item at $26, more / less depending on the dealership but still. Installation easy, except for me, took me forever to get this one screw out, but I finally did, lol. If you want to see a picture how it looks like, I'll take it. Up close it might look a little bit weird I guess but looks way better than having one of those and a spoiler. IMO.

Fishpony, I thought finding a 5 speed was hard. How did you find the only 96/97 nissan ever made? Hang on to that. It will be valuable.

By the way, I took up for you with that focus guy on your car domain. His 1/4 mile time is mid 15's. he wouldn't touch a max. I let him know it in not so many words.

IMO, whoever fixed the car used parts from the wrong model year. From the pics, paint colors don't match from front to back. Was this a significant accident whereby they rebuilt the entire back half of the car?

man what a response, ok heres the deal i bought the car and knew it was in 2 accidents one that totaled it and another by the previous owner and he had to replace the back bumper, which is the reason the back bumper color doesn't match up, because he just wanted it fixed and got cheap, another thing that is weird when i bought the car from him he said it was a GLE and it even has GLE in the title and on insurance which i thought was really weird when it is clearly an SE, and i did do a carfax on it but just found out the mileage is correct and about the accident that totaled it. the reason the doors are different colors is the driver side door was hit by the previus owner and that was the only thing painted, which kinda ****es me off. so my car is like 3 different colors. and the reason i never noticed the different trunks was because i never really looked hard at it and noticed the difference. man this car is one big problem.

i like your post toofast240 to flowerpower or watever his name is thats funny, i would never even think about driving a focus much less buy one

Aren't you the one that was saying that you were going to dump like $12000 into converting all this stuff on your Max over the next year or so?

What are you worried about it being wrecked or the wrong rear end on there then? I mean, you were going to just "custom" the whole thing anyway, with Diablo doors or suicide doors or something anyway, right?

haha umm no sorry you got the wrong guy, maybe like $120 or possibly $1200 if i get it painted but not 12 grand, i would buy a new car for that. i think i remember reading a thread by that guy tho was going to have all these custom molded body kit parts or something and ferrari doors i think his car was like red or somethin.

His car was not red.
Sorry, I thought that was you.
It would probably be quicker and easier to just get some parts to do the conversion back to 97-99. They look better anyway, and then you could go from there.

Also, if you don't want to do that, you could always just get in on a gd that is for the red/clears for 95/96. I think there is one going on right now, or they are trying to get it going.

I thought about that, but that's how the car came when I bought it. I guess it doesn't bother me as much as it does you, so I'll just leave it like it is.

NYC_Maxima97: Do both still turn on or did you disconnect the other? Just wondering.

aznprid972: Couldn't get my digi cam to work today. I think it's busted so I'm going to get a new one tomorrow. Than I'll post.

Both turn on, when I replaced the speakers, I took the light out and disconnected it, thought about leaving it out but then decided, the more lights the merrier. Looks fine to me.

The model of any Max is coded from the factory on the firewall plate (see my webpage for details)

There's two kinds of tails on a 4th gen, the ones with the blinker/BU light ABOVE is not a candidate for the clear/red mod.

A frankenstein Max? Kool!
