NGK copper plugs worth the money??

i'v been having trouble locating the NGK copper v-powers, advanced auto quoted me a price of $9.98 per plug, why is it so much higher then the $1.98 Bosch plugs? and is copper really better to use over the platiums?
thanks

ONLY USE NGK. Also coppers are the cheap ones...maybe even cheaper than those crappy bosch ones. They were probably talking about plats. Ask for NGK BKR5e-11's. Or get them at the local dealership or JRnissan (with 'maxima' promo code) with nissan part number 22401 - 50Y05. If you want to know if plats (the expensive ones) are worth it, that depends on if you are doing the plugs yourself since they'll cost about 5 times as much, but they'll last twice as long, so if you're having it done getting plats would probably be worthwhile given the cost of labor.

I believe the NGK copper plugs have a colder spark than the NGK platinum plugs.

If so, what does this do to performance? Which plug would result in better gas mileage or would there be effectively no difference?

If cost is not a consideration, which is the better plug to use in a 1995 Maxima, when the plugs are changed out at 60,000 miles. My original plugs seem to be holding up just fine at 53,000 miles.

Also, what experiences are there out there in holding off on the spark plug replacement if the car is running fine? I have been told that because of the aluminum block there can sometimes be a bit of a problem in getting plugs out at the back if you wait too long.

My baby's been suffering from hesitation and jerking under hard throttle and i'm trying to find the problem. I took out each plug to check it and everything looked fine. it only took me about an hour to check each one, pretty easy.

anybody have any ideas though, to what could be causing this sh*t, its really starten to **** me off. I'm checking the fuel filter next.

thanks guys, i'm going to pick up some coppers as soon as i can, install wasn't too bad

They have a better spark than the plats cause of copper being a better conductor I guess.

Since you have a 99 Max, it's probably your coil pack(s). Your car is probably misfiring. It won't throw a code until the coil pack is completely dead. Common problem for 99s

What I would do is ask someone local to you (http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=42) if you can borrow their coil packs for a minute. Just swap them one by one and see which one is causing the problem. Or you can just buy a used set from the Classified section or check eBay. You could by new ones, but they're like $50+ each so it'll be over $300 for a new set of 6. If you find out which one is causing the problem then you can just buy that one new from the dealer.

The price you got was for the platinum plugs. You can get the coppers from the dealer if you want (just give them the part number and tell them you want 6 of them) since the price difference (store vs. dealer) shouldn't be that much http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaSparkPlugs

jerking under hard throttle wouldnt nessicarily point to a coil pak being out.....when I had mine out in #4 cylinder it was VERY hesitant as low speeds and once you hit 35-40 you didn't notice a thing....

Just get regular coppers, not the v-power things. You don't really need them.
The coppers should be under $2 each, like others have said.

Why not? I have the v power coppers, and have not had any problems, yet. I had to get them. No auto parts stores within an hours drive cary regular coppers .

I got my NGK BKR5e-11's at the local NAPA store. There's a bunch of 'em in the Rochester area. They work great.

yeah, you have to ask for them by the part number. I mean, if you just go in there and say that you want some coppers for a 99 max, they will laugh at you. They don't know what to do when you tell them that, because the ones that they have in the computer is for the plats.

I did ask for the specific part number! (I forgot what it was). But any way when I rattled of the number they would just look at me like I am retarded, and then would try to sell me some platinum autolights or some bosch crap.

What is the part number you use for regular coppers? Because I am looking at the box right now and BKR5E-11 is the part number for V-power coppers.

Sounds about right! It's hard to find good parts stores/people. Just sift through the junk until you find what you want.

that is the same part number, so I guess we are all arguing about the same thing. ha ha ha. I mean, we are probably talking about the same thing. I didn't know that the "regular" coppers were the v-power ones, and vice versa.

That is the part number I used.

Thanks for pointing that out, Midknight MAXX!
