Serious DOOR problem

Can anyone help me out I have a 96 maxi. se...and my driver side door is acting up! when door is locked it can be opened from the outside or inside while locked! This is a serious problem b/c i have no alarm!!! How can this be fixed so that when i lock the door it remains locked.. ? Also how many more mile do you think i can get im at 175,600!!! please i really need advice on upkeep of my max shes is my baby!!!..

any comments will be great!!!

Sounds like the lock mechanism has come undone inside the door.. you are going to have to open up the door (i.e. remove the trim, not take the door off the car) and take a look... I don't know the specifics of the locking mechanism but imagine it would be pretty easy to see whats wrong once you have the door open.

Thanx alot. i contacted the dealer where i got the car and they said they'll take a look at it. i dont feel good about anyone being able to enter my car!! b/c maximas have a HIGH theft rate!

dont take it to the stealerships they WILL rip you off I had the same problem with my door and they wanted 440$ to fix it plus parts you would be better off getting the parts and doing it yourself

MAybe one of the locks is out of place. Take the inside door panel off and check it all out before taking it to the dealer.
