tail light tint

is it illegal in rhode island to tint the tail lights?

i'm not from RI, but as long as the light is clearly visible, i dont see how it would be illegal. unless, of course, you paint the damn thing totally black and the light doesn't shine through.

I think it'll be illegal if you tint the whole tail light b/c then the reflector won't shine the light. I'm just planning on tinting the top half so it's black/red.
