Brake noise

My brake squeek pretty loudly and it is starting to get annoying. I took it to a local brake shop and they cleaned them and said they wont squeek, but they still do. The brakes are almost new, so they shouldnt need replacement. My mom also has a 1996 Maxima, and her brakes also squeek, though not as loud as mine. My friends day also has a 1996 Maxima, and his brakes also squeek. Is it just normal for a Maximas brakes to squeek? Is there something I can get done to fix it? Thank you.

I know A LOT of Maximas that have squeeky brakes, mine doesn't though, thank God. I use AutoZone pads, and rotors. Then again ppl that have used this same combo have squeeky brakes also, so I don't know. . . .02

Why would a frozen caliper make brakes squeek? Actuating the caliper shouldn't make it squeek anyways, so if a frozen caliper is making noise, that noise is already an inherent problem that regularly occurs when the brakes are applied.

A lot of maxima brakes squeek. It just sucks. Mine does that too. You can put that disk brake quiet stuff on the back of the pads, and check that all shims and clips are good.

A different brake noise question, my rear left brake makes a "woo woo woo" noise whenever I cruise but it stopes as soon as I hit the brakes, I got it checked and the guy blames it on my 5 spoke wheeles saying the open space deteriorates the pades quicker, is this true?

turbo1er, your rotors are probably warped. have them resurfaced. if the noise comes back, your calipers could be frozen... this heats up the rotor(s) and results in them warping again.

I went through a lot of trial and error trying to fix the problem you're describing.

if you're taking it to a shop to be fixed, make sure it's someone you trust. if you go in there and tell some random mechanic that your car is going "woo woo woo", he's going to make up some random bs and rape you on the price to fix it.

Yeah I figured it was a bit of a bs check, I went to Midas and even had the guy cruise around with me so he could hear the noise for himself cause he didnt know what I was talking about. Not planning on getting any work done there just wanted a check and yet I still got ripped since they charged me for that check up.

Replacing the calipers shouldn't make it stop squeeking. But if your calipers are frozen, you should replace them anyways. But I doubt that's the problem. It could be a number of things. Check that your shims are in place. Another potential problem is the dust shield, clips being in contact with the rotor.
