15.9 @ the Trax, What the???
I have a 99 AT maxima as you all know,
Mods Warpspeed YPipe
CAI
Full Cat Back
2.5" High Flow Cat
I lowered tire pressure in the front to 25 psi
I took out the passenger seat, and all the matting and the trunk was almost completley stripped
I was at Great Lakes Drag way the other day, and my car ran 15.9 both times
r/t-5.9...
60'-2.404
330-6.771
1/8-10.309 @ mph70.38
1000-13.329
1/4 15.919 @ 86.80mph
It feels like my car is hesitating after 65mph, I got a diganostic twice, nothing came up, just got a oil chnage and a trany flush 'n fill, any body got a clue as to why I ran 15.9

I ran a 15.9 at my first time at het track. I also had a 2.4 60', that is because I hesitated at the launch. I only have intake and all I took out was the spare tire and I had over a half of tank of gas.
You should be running 14.9.
How are you shifting? Are you leaving it in D? When was the last tiem you gave it a tune-up?

2.4 60'....that is why you are running 15.9 in 1/4 mile.
I mean, you need that down a lot lower to get into the 14's.
My 60' times the last time I ran were anywhere from 2.307-2.433 and that yielded an average 1/4 mile time of 15.2422 @ 92.454 (AVG).
I know from talking to most people, that 60' time is a huge factor. I am 5spd, however, and I don't know what would give you better 60' times. It sounds like you are doing all the right things.....tires, mods, etc.
It sounds like it might be bogging a little off the line. Maybe you ought to try to let it chirp a little, but not too much. I don't know, but your trap speeds are really low.

I havent gotten a legit time from the track yet, i have a stock AT 99 se. Ive beaten cars that run in the low to mid 15's. Something is wrong with ur car or you need to learn how to launch like 1FSTMAX said.
Better luck next time.

I had a 96 auto with an intake ran 15.77@87.1. My 60' was 2.343, and 1/8 was 10.16@71.63. Its not your driving, its your car. How much wheel spin do you have? If none then you need a tune up real bad.
#10
Did you try at all without brake TQing? I wouldn't do it just because it ****s up the tranny and makes more wheel spin. You also ran only twice so that might have something to do with it. But I doubt it'll be any faster cause your car is already stripped and you should be running much faster.

Fuel filter was changed like 6k ago, i checked the maf like 4 days ago when I installed my CAI, sholdnt it throw off a code if theres a sensor problem? I got a diagnostic to see if it was the ks but it said all clear twice, Iono whats wrong but its ****ing me off!

Stupid Nissan and there Gay Auto Trannys, There so weak, WTF is my damn tranny slipping, I never Neutral Drop or anything, I only break torqued it like 5 times and the first two where at the traqs that day

Did you check your tranny fluid level and when was the last time you changed filter and fluid.
Also are you going with OD off or on. I have a 96 auto but never ran it off the bottle. So I wouldnt know what times id get. But yea tranny does kinda slip every know and then. They arent really made to rag with really sluggish. My problem now a days is my top end isnt there cause it is an auto. Oh well swap coming soon. Good luck

It's probably your Knock Sensor. The CEL won't necessarily turn on when the knock is bad, to verify if it is good you should follow the check instructions in the haynes Maxima Manual OR let the Nissan Dealer run a Full diagnostic, thay should be able to pull-off the KS code if it has gone bad.
This is what happened to my Max. No CEL but the diagnostic at the dealer threw the code off and after replacement I could feel the difference.
I have almost those same mods and I'm also 96 auto and I ran a 15.6@89mph
hope the info helps

1) GLD is the worst track in the country, that's most of your problem right there.
2) Your 60' times were pretty bad. That's probably partly a result of being at that POS track you went to, and partly a result of inexperience.
3) I don't know what the weather was on the day you went, but you really can't compare times run at a crappy track in the middle of summer to those run at a good track in the cool weather of spring or fall, so don't try to compare them or you will just end up frustrating yourself.
I bet if you were to go run at byron or rt-66 in like 70 degree, low humidity, high pressure weather you would come back with like a 15.4-15.5 @ 89-90mph, which is right along the lines of where you should be I'd say.
Don't waste your time or money at GLD that track is just a waste of energy.

Thank you Nealoc! Was it humid that day? Because i have a 96 auto SE that ran 15.8@87 on a HUMID day. I mean so humid i could see all the water vapor in the air. I have a CAI and y pipe. But with just and intake i ran 15.6@87 at IRP.

These were the Traq Conditions, It was About 75-80 Degrees, Hmm it was a little humid the first time, Then the second run was around 8:30 so it was real cool up there and the humidity went down, it was around 65-70 deg, O and misquitos are freking huge up there!!!
