Installed Intake Yesterday - Random Sensor + Noise???

Yesterday I installed my aftermarket Air Intake Similar to this one...
http://www.procarparts.com/products/NS95MX-3683CIX.JPG
Although when i got it all in there was an extra sensor with a 2" Black Plastic thing on the end, but no place to plug it in??
I am not exactly sure what it is, and plan on putting up pics of it if need be.
Also i have driven it, and it got ALOT louder top end, but stayed the same prety much low end (Which is what i was looking for, as well as the power increase). however it almost seems to loud for a V6? and it starts to whistle just before it gets loud....

I guess i am interested in any advice about this, or for you guys to say this is normal

I can get pics tonight if need be.

Oh, I have not done my exhaust yet either if that helps...

Thanks in advance...

In the picture there appears to be a black plug in the mid pipe (the piece between the MAF sensor and the throttle body). That is where your mysterious (air temp) sensor goes.

thought so

I thought that was it, but it does not reach it stock...

Can I Cut tape to make it longer, or do i have to splice a longer wire in?

Just trace the wires and make sure it's not zip tied to a bracket somewhere. If it is just clip the zip tie and zip tie it so it'll reach.

Thanks Alot

Just went and looked, should be easy enough. I will let you know if the noises change any.

Just curious - how much of a difference, or is it damaging to leave it out...

I'd be guessing but I'd imagine that it would be a detriment to performance because of the turbulence it creates and throwing off the readings to the ECU as well risking something getting suck in that hole.

thanks - but noises are the same

The hole was plugged anyway, so not sucking stuyff in, but it did seem to make acceleration a little smoother (after i installed temp sensor), but not a big change i dont think...

Any idea about the whistle?
only at half throttle, kind of annoying...
i am thinking it is whistling, because it is trying to suck air around dust plates, wheel well, and fog light, but not sure?

Although it is running good??

I am always open to sugestions, and comments....

Thanks Again
D-Twelve...

That's probably normal intake noise. If all the connections are good and tight you should be good. If it sounds like a swift inhale that's normal.

it sounds normal at low RPM, and gets alot louder as you get neer redline, but right when i start to put it to the floor, it whistles for a second. Its kind of annoying. i can try to record the sound, but i dont know if it will pick it up?

That whistle is completely normal. You will get used to it after awhile, I did. or is that just my break-squeal that's drowning it out?
