Brakes feel sluggish... what's up?

I'm driving around in the rain here in Denver and I notice that my car seems eager to go forward... I mean... when I press the brakes, more pressure needs to be applied to keep the car at a stop (automatic).
Funny, I thought... So I tried pressing the brake all the way down from the point I at which the car is at a stop and noticed that the pedal doesn't travel as far as it used too.

If it's due to rain water, I'm surprised cuz I've never experienced this before.
I worrying that my brakes are failing, if that's even possible.
My fluid level were fine about a month ago... I'll check again today, but what do you guys think it going on??? Brake cylinder failing?????

My brakes arent as responsive as my gf's maxima's brakes but thats because hers doesnt have abs. Do what I do, brake hard once in a while to build up pressure. You might need to bleed your brakes to clear the air out. Take it to a mechanic and get yours totally checked out.
