Should I lower with Tokico Blues?

After driving with dead shocks for almost two months, I badly need to repair my suspension now; strong wind almost made me loose control today, just by going 60mph. (GR2s on stock springs, went for about ~25,000 miles). I really want to improve my handling by having a small drop, and be safe on not bottoming-out or having to deal with camber kits. Reading over http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php I'm getting an idea that Tokico Blues are best used for stock strut replacements, and rears blow out when used with aftermarket springs; but I also notice in some posts on this forum that some do use different springs on Blues. So are there springs that work well with Blues without any problems (like H&Rs or Eibachs)? What about Tokico Blues Kit from custommaxima? I currently still have stock 15" wheels, waiting for my tires to wear out, so I can get 16" or 17" alloys, but not anytime soon, maybe like on Chrismas

Thanks for any suggestions/advices, I really want to fix it well, can't believe I don't like my Maxima as much as I did before.

The blues are no good for lowering springs...any lowering springs. If you want a set I have some that were never installed that have been sitting in my basement for like 2 years...PM me if you want them.

The current fashion in struts for lowering springs is the Tokico Illuminas. It used to be the KYB AGX's but they turned out to be garbage...mine are going after ~1 year.

Thanks for the reply. Since its best not to use blues when lowering, I guess I have to go with Illuminas. Then, what springs give just a small drop on Illuminas; is it H&R, Tokico or some other?

yeah, my suggestion would be.....NO.
Don't use the Blues for lowering springs. They just don't seem to last very long. They are supposed to be stock replacement only.
Get the Illumina kit and you will be happy.
Look on ebay for it...that is where a lot of guys are finding it now.

Do not, please do not use Blues for lowering springs. I used GR-2's with B&G springs and I regret it. The rears blew within a week... If you want a minimal drop, get H&R springs which are a very subtle and soft drop with Tokico Illumina struts. You'll thank me later.

Great! I'll go with Illuminas then. Since I still have 15" wheels, I'm concerned about bottoming-out and tire wear. Can it happen with Tokico Illumina Kit?

Thanks again.

it should not, unless you get something that drops like 3". Just get some Tein H-techs (1.7F, 1.5R) and Illuminas and you will be happy. No adjustment of the camber should be necessary with that setup.

You will actually be less likely to bottom out with the stock 15's since you have more rubber to help cushion the bumps (though I don't know if it really makes a difference eitherway).

Ok, thanks.

Also, on the other side, if its not good to drop with tokico blues, why is there a lowering kit with blues on CustomMaxima's webstore? Are rear blues struts are fine as long as they're being used with tokico springs?

Its like crack, just because its sold doesnt mean its good for you.

CustomMaxima couldnt care less about what happens to your car as long as they get some money... and hey if you blow a set of Blues you'd have to go buy another set... they hope it'll be from them again
