his car is a stick gs eclipse, the fastnfurious body style. he has intake headers and 2 stupid *** apexn1 exhausts. he wants my 2000se rims w/kumho tires if he wins, and he would give me 2 kenwood 600 watt amps and an in dash tv. i know it sounds stupid but the way he talks i dont tink i could win. I am auto, plus i was with him the day he burned a 2nd gen rx7 non turbo. should i run him? i have a 99se tranny with racing torq converter, vb mod, tranny cooler, and WAI.

NOT only is he makin fun of me but alot of dudes with riced up civics laugh at my max, the ting is racing around here is so ez to get caught by cops i dont tink its really worth it.

 

I would race him. I've raced those cars in mine and killed them. But I'm a 5speed with y,ecu,b,jwt pop charger, stillen fly wheel, and ur pulley. Don't know if that helps. I say do it

 

Im sorry but the non-turbo eclipse is slow as hell. An old friend of mine had one and i drove it a few times. They really arent fast at all. The turbo however is something else. But they dont handle well at all. I dont think it would be a good idea to race him on the street cause of the cops and that you may hurt yourself or someone else if something were to go wrong.
As for the others that are making fun of your Max... There driving civics, i dont have to say anything else. Civics for the most part are jokes. They think cause they installed a tin can exhaust and 1000 stickers, that their cars are fast. Bull****! there slow as hell. My boys friend with a B16 motor in a CRX talked his smack and he quickly stopped once i embarassed him in front of his honda buddies.
Race him, get the parts, install them and enjoy.

Ive been challenged by 6 Eclipse's so far, still have not lost. If all he has is the exhaust I say go for it.

 

So how many hp and ft. lbs. is the Eclispse running? I take it the Max is an automatic with no exhaust mods. Throw in a Y-pipe, find an isolated area and blow his doors off!

Ive raced Stock Gsx's and Gst's, Even stock those cars are quick, You couldnt tell who won with me and the GSX, but GS and RS models are the most garbage Ive seen, except for hondas that is

 

your auto, with how many mods? vs him whos standard with headers? and exhuast? that might just help him a bit. i would say go for it and find out. although personally i think it'll be close. get an y-pipe for 160 from warpspeed, and he wont even notice. about less then 1 hr job for install. you'll definetely take him then.

this is my personal opinion on the eclipse. my boy has one with a turbo pushing 27lbs with just a boost controller everything else stock and four wheel drive. now im running 11lbs and 30 shot and he gives me one hell of a run. we went to the track and he ran 12.9 - 13 all day in the 1/4 with the sick launch car almosts twist when he takes off so be careful.

 

I've raced the GS and someked hm easily.
Although mine's automatic, I have exhaust and JWT ECU.

If I were you I'd first make sure he isn't hiding something like NOS or something of the sort. If he seems really confident he may have something down his sleeve.

make sure iit's an all motor race, and that his car in fact is a regular gs. If something is on the line, just make sure it isn't a sleeper.

 

Stock eclipses have been known to roast vipers and bugatti veyrons by many car lengths at various drag strips across the US. I wouldn't try it.

 

Yes I agree check the car out and make sure there are not hidden things (nitrous) or others mods you do not know about. A stock 5 speed GS eclipse is good for around a 16.5 in the 1/4th mile, with the mods you listed he is maybe down to around a 16.0-16.3. You max should be able to kill it as long as you don’t mess up, but I agree if you where to get a Y-pipe you would not even have to sweat it.

 

Here is what my Son's turbo DSM can do in the 1/4.

I actually beat him across the line because of the r/t but he was quicker and faster.

 

Excuse my ignorance if that is the case. But IMHO 27 psi on an otherwise stock engine is probably a good 15psi out of the stock turbo's efficency range. Not to mention the lack of fuel and what 27psi is doing to his stock exhaust. His downpipe must be cherry red all the time from making heat vs usable boost.

DEFINITELY check if it is indeed a GS with two tin cans. I have a friend running an SI juiced up with a 50 shot and all the typical mods, but he changed his emblems from SI to DX. I guess it's a security system in itself. but yea, check if he isn't a douche

 

If it was the new GT, the V6....i wouldnt race him, i have driven an auto GT and they are rather quick...maybe he did a swap?! i dunno, if he sounds so confident his lil 4 banger will beat the max, he is probly a really ignorant bastard, OR he is gona spank you and take your rims cause he got something special...

Ask if you can peep under the hood, ask around, c what you can do to 1 of those GS's without a turbo, and compare...do your research, dont ask the nissan guys lol...

Well I've run a new GT-S 5spd that had I/E and beat it by about 2 car lengths to about 90mph even with an extra person (he was alone, i had my 180lb frien in there). I have an Auto with I/Y, a muffler, and the DR mod...they're pretty quick, but a max with minor mods should take it. i think that a Stock 5-speed with a good driver should be able to take one with an intake and exhaust.

man C MAX is retarded, I'm suprised how many people on this board don't really know ****. I would ask him to pop his hood first. If it's the first gen he should have a motor similar to the turbo one, but no turbo, if it's the second gen 95-99 then if he is non turbo he got a dodge neon motor with slightly better cams, if it's turbo then he got a motor similar to the first gen and turbo. Whatever what I'm trying to say look for the turbo, you can turbo any car and you will be suprised how many ***** with their 420A's are turboed.

Just know what you are up against. Look for nitrous selonoids and **** like that too. If it's non turbo and doesn't have some extra juice it will be an easy walk in the park, if it's turbo you won't catch him even if he was stock. With a good driver those things run anywhere from low 14s to mid 13s depending on the chassis.
