The one on the left goes to the cooler and the one on the right goes back to the reservoir. I THINK!

sorry to whor your thread, but I NEED the two little lines that connect the hard lines, so they can wrap around the radiator.

Anybody have part numbers for those?

If not I am going to the stealership today any way, so maybe I can help you out by looking at a schematic or something.

On my 98 SE, the "cooler" is a piece of rubber hose making a loop in front of the radiator. Therefore, it would make sense that, at least on my car, you couldn't mess anything up by reversing the flow. Is there a cooler on your 96 that could make a difference?

Yea really dont think it would make a difference either but one line goes back to the ps pump and one goes to the resevior....both go to a different place...just look for me

BTW: the cooler in front of my car is metal

Just replace it with from High Pressure PS hose at $2 a foot..I did both of them to move them out of the way for the SuperCharger

Anyone Know what order there in ??

It absolutely does not matter. Hook it up one way and the fluid flows clockwise through the loop, hook it up the other way the fluid flows CCW through the loop. It works either way.

Are you referring to the 2 black hoses that come out of the bottom of the power steering reservoir. The 2 hoses are the same diameter. They feed out of the reservoir and don't cross over. The one on the left stays on the left and the one on the right stays on the right. You obviously know what they were disconnected from. So hook the one on the left up to the leftmost opening and the one on the right to the rightmost opening. Does that make sense? I looked under my hood and can't quite see where they feed into as there isn't enough light, but it shouldn't be rocket science!

And if that fails, phone the stealership? Or go look at a service manual at your local parts store. Public libraries also have them, at least where I live.

Well I finally did it. I first went to the stealership ,and they wanted like thirty bucks for each of those hoses that connect the hard lines off the resivour, to the cooler line as it wrap around the radiadtor.

So naturally I was like F**K that, so I head to the local aouto parts store, and he said they had them. He pulls out this little box, and inside is a foot long piece of 3/8 power stering hose. It came out to like six bucks.

Any way I just got done replacing those hoses, and if any of you have to do it good luck. I am still bleeding where my knuckes hit the bumper, and there is very little room. But I did it and thats my story on that one.

You need about 8 feet of hose to make those connections ??

yea the area is really tight in there, my knuckles were bleeding from hittin the radiator so much

i've got some leftover hose from my transmission oil cooler. its rated up to 400 PSI. can i use that as a replacement? below is a picture of mine just to make sure i'm talking about the right hose. the one one the right is leaking a bit as you can see its darker on top and bottom. please drag the link to your address bar to view the picture.

also, can you lift out the reservoir? the top clamp seems awful to get to. i assume i have to empty out the reservoir first. should i refill with synthetic ATF? or plain old steering fluid.

I used plain dexron three, by valvoline. It was the right stuff ,and it was what was available. As for synthetic, I dont know, but I would use whats recomended to avoid problems.

I say go for it if they are the right size. There shouldnt be a problem with the fluid eating the rubber cause they are safe for atf. And those are not high pressure lines anyway so I say you should be good to go.
