Dtc #0413 = Cel
Dtc #0413 = Cel
Installed autometer A/F ratio gauge last night. Gauge seems to be working correctly. I am getting excellent readings, however I got a CEL after the install. The code was 0413 "upstream oxygen sensor cicuit slow response fault (left bank)". I was extra careful when tapping into the blue wire on the 02 sensor, so I'm alittle concerned. Has anyone else ever got this code & what is the cure. After I reset the CEL I drove for about an hour without the CEL coming on again. Then I stopped to put gas in the car & when I started the car the CEL came back on. I checked the code right there are the gas station & it was the same 0413. What do I need to do the fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Also, would it be better for me to just soilder the lead from the gauge directly to blue wire from the 02 sensor or would this effect the sensitivity of the wire even more. Thanks!
On which side should I try this? Where the wires exit from the 02 sensor or up torward where the 02 sensor wires go into the plug that connects to the harness?
Last night I disconnected the signal wire that connects to the gauge to see if the CEL would remain off after resetting the ECU, but then my CEL started blinking instead of being on constantly when driving. So I reattached the signal lead from the gauge to the 02 sensor (blue) wire & now the same code 0413 & the CEL is on constantly (no blinking). I'll try to do what you told me to, but i'
m just concerned because that wire has super low resistance. I'm wondering if my connection is cause to much interference with the signal? Well I'll try to see if your remedy help's later & get back to you. Thanks for the info!!!

Kevlo911,
Well I tried what you suggested & still no luck. After I reset the CEL the light remains off while driving, but once I shut the car off the next time I start it up the CEL comes back. Any more suggestions? I really need to get this problem squared away quickly. I wondering now If i'm going to have to have an electrician do alittle wire replacement. I'm don't understand what else could be causing that code 0413. Why would the blue wire be so damn sensitive? I really hope i don't have to replace the entire wire from the plug to the ECU. That's gonna be a pain in the rear. And that still doesn't guarentee that the problem will be cured. Also I can pretty much eliminate that there is a problem with the 02 sensor, because everything worked perfectly before the gauge was installed. Do you this that the power supply for the gauge could be causing the slow signal. I hooked it up to a 7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box. Also do you think that routing the signal wire along with some other wires may be causing the slow signal response fault code? I do have the siganl wire running along the top of the radiator along with some of the other factory wiring. Man it sure would be great if I could get this resolved. I am a weirdo when it comes to driving my car with the CEL on. I am totally against doing it, I even tell some of my other friends not to do it, & if they can't afford to have it fixed i'll help them out. Any way any other advise you think might help would totally be appriciated. Thanks again!

I've attempted that to. I but it back to stock form without the gauge hooked up & I still get the CEL. The only difference is the CEL light blinks like if you are reading codes instead of being on constantly. All this is after the ECU has been reset & the engine is running. I'm really stumped on this one! The only thing I can think of is that the wire isn't able to transfer signal quick enough to the ECU since it's trying to send signal to both the gauge & the ECU at the same time. But that still isn't justified because even when the gauge isn't hooked up I still get the same code 0413 but the CEL blinks instead of remaining on constantly?
