Cone Filter HEAT shields... Worth it? or useless?

I have a Short Ram Intake and found that eBay is selling these heat shields for the cone filter. Is it worth it to buy one of these bad boys for like $15? I honeslty don't know how one piece of metal covering a portion of the filter will help prevent the heat from interacting with it? Actually.... wouldn't it RESTRICT air flow (because a lesser portion of the filter is exposed?) Is my thinking logical? Or do I not know what the hell I'll talkin about here?

Wait a minute. By looking at your picture, I can't spot the heat shield over the filter. Are you saying that you feel ample power with the short ram intake? or that you feel ample power with the heat shield installed? I'm confused.

Anybody else here wanna comment? Help a brother out guys!

i doubt you will see any help coming from that ebay shield. the most functional and decent looking shield i have seen was some sort of chimney base cover that was cut to fit behind the filter. it sat between the filter and the maf adapter which helped seperate it from the engine. i used one last summer and while it looked like it would beneficial, there was no difference to be felt.
