stock for stock you should be able to take him. i raced my friend who had a manual newer eclipse model and i took him. it was a good run but you'll be able to take him. but after the y-pipe and intake, im sure he's not a problem anymore.

Ok people time to see the doctor about your dislexia. He said GTS not GST. Meaning he's racing a 2000+ V6 eclipse.

And if he were racing a 95-99 GST the result would not be iffy. A 95-99 GST is running high 14's in the 1/4 stock as opposed to mid to high 15's for a max, and his max isnt even a stick.

High 14's for a stock GS-T??? Ha, ha. I used to own a DSM, and I couldn't break into the 14s stock. I even had AWD, so I hooked-up better and ALWAYS beat GS-Ts. The prob is the turbo - too much lag off idle (you really have to beat on them for a killer launch) and the turbo runs out of breath before redline, which makes the powerband easy to escape. Swap out the turbo, however, and you can build a beast that will stomp almost all comers.

As for the V6 Eclipse, I would expect the Max's torque would give it the extra oooooompf to take the win. Don't be scared of him.

Man you must SUCK at driving. Not ONE of my friends or myself ever got anything slower than a 14.8 in all of our stock DSMs. haha that blows.

15.02 was my best, and it was over 4 years ago (when I was only 18) in Colorado's high altitude, so you could probably adjust and shave off a tenth or two. I did have a leak in my head gasket (unknown at the time), which could have weakened it. Plus I was sitting on 18s. Or any number of conditions that can affect drag runs. Regardless, my driving skills are just fine. *Ahem* Excuse me, I had to defend myself for a second there. I'm done. Onward with the discussion.

Ok.. so just because YOU couldn't get into the 14's doesn't mean no one can. They're SUPPOSED to run 14's bone stock, but you were in Colorado, on 18's, and with a leaking head gasket. So um... yea... your car sucked.

I guess my view was a bit warped bcz I still beat stock GS-Ts, both 1G and 2G. I only lost to 2G GSXs (mine was a 1G). I guess they were even suckier drivers than I apparently am. Months later, that poor 4G63 froze up on the way from Colo to Cincy. . . . as much as I love my Max, I miss having BOOST under foot.

Well if they can't run 14's in a stock DSM then they suck. Hardcore. And how do you think I feel without boost? I had a 300+whp DSM and then got my slow *** dog crap maxima haha

Alright then ... If I see 'em, I'll let 'em know they suck. Hardcore.

I hope you weren't expecting a VG30DETT when you bought your Max. They aren't blistering, but they're quicker than most sport compacts. Besides, we can kick a decent amount of butt while carrying 4 people comfortably. The benefits of having a sports sedan far outweigh the negatives. DSMs might as well be two seaters, bcz the back seat is worthless.

No the only thing I was expecting was 4 useable seats, not speed.

Lol, that argument is pretty pointless. Anyway your Max should pull on a 3rd gen eclipse pretty easy, those things are slow, I pulled pretty bad on a friends 2001 convertible gt.

Whats wrong with everyone??? y is everyone going off topic so often lately? It's like every thread I read today, someone changes the topic and brings on a whole different convo. anyway....

NO offense man but I think you'll lose to the gts eclipse. I ran against one at the track that ran consistent 15.2-15.4s all night. You're max is good for mid 15s at best but most people I know run high15 or even 16s! so idunno man give it a shot and c what happens. good luck !

Hmmmmm, I know alot about 2nd gen eclipses but no so much about 3rd gens. What is the difference in the engine of the gt and the gts, and which one is better?
