I have the little Craftsman...mine happens to be silver. Regretted it. It works and with an extension bar its tollerable but its just too small and if you're lifting the whole car its too much work!

A 3-4 ton would be a better choice. Try www.northerntool.com l

Jack stands. Auto zone 2 ton, got em for $10 a pair.
They work just fine.

Do you think the Hydraulic Bottle Jacks like the Craftsman Professional 8 ton Hydraulic Jack http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...id=00950283000
better than the regular Jacks

Would you know if there are drawbacks to using Hydraulic Bottle Jacks.

Thanx

I've never needed a bottle jack...yet. Floor jacks are convenient, roll'em around , no crawlin around trying to position the bottle. Bottles would come in handy if you had the car on stands and you needed to support or shift the engine/transmission while changing motor mounts for example.

Just my .02

Cheers!

Get the high lift jack, the one for SUVs and stuff. Its still as low as the normal jacks, and with one or two pumps its raises itself to the jack point. And you will like the extra hight it gives you.

I just bought a 3 ton Husky brand Hydraulic jack from home depot. I'm satisfied with it so far. I also came with 2, 3 ton jack stands and one of those benchs the roll under the car; all for $50.

Summit has a really nice all-aluminum race-style jack for $100(+/-). I have a couple, no problems yet. Better yet, get a Lowen 2 post lift ($1500). Mine is coming in 3 weeks!

This one lifts high but it won't fit if your drop is more than 2". They usually have it on sale with a pair of stands for $45-$49. Not built for lots of use though. I use mine about 40-50 times/year and I'm on my 2nd unit in 2 years.

Get stock springs j/k

A 3-ton jack from Costco is great, and it fits almost perfectly under my 1.5~" drop.
