CD Player Issues, Please HELP!

Hey all, I need some help here.

I have a non Bose Stock CD player in my Max.
Lately it has been scipping like hell and I get the CD "Err" message about every 3 times I try using it.

Is this a sign that the Laser is on the way out or what?

Is there any way the stock deck can be cleaned or assessed to see how it is operating???

I don't really have the cash to replace it right now but I really want my tunes!!!!!!

Any suggestions????

Thanks OPIPE

knight71 - he stated he doesn't have the Bose system - so I don't know if the fixes Madchef suggests are applicable to his problem... maybe they are... I'm not sure.

O PIPE - you could also try running a CD lens cleaner through it - its a cheap solution if it works.
