Push button starter?

I saw these on custommaxima and was wondering it anyone had one installed on their car. I think it would be cool especially since i dont use the lighter ever. Any thoughts?

i've read of one member on here that has it. seems kind of pointless imo.

if you want it though, go for it. i just don't really see the point. i am willing to bet you can find the same thing in an auto parts store or online for significantly cheaper. (not that i know the price they charge for it on custommaxima, but i bet it's too high)

made my own push button start with 2 relays and a momentary button. It doesnt look fancy though. The Ignited one looks rather pretty, and thats about it. I would get it for looks alone, cus its purpose is nothing you need. I wonder if the ignited one comes with all the wires and relays you need.

I read this somewhere but cant remember, had it saved.

If you want a Push Button start, you will need a Momentary Switch, some wire, and the tools to take apart your dash, and probably some butt connectors or splicing T's.

For a Manual Tranny:

Gain access to your key switch, and take the Black and White wire and splice it and run the spliced wire to your momentary switch.

Then splice the White and Purple wire to the other side of the momentary switch (this is a 12v wire, and is always hot so be careful or unplug the battery).

You have now created a switch that will power the starter relay. You still need to put the key in the run position, and push in the clutch. if you dont push in the clutch, the car will not start. If you dont have the key in the run position, the alarm will go off.

i think its cool until the novelty wears off. but at least if you do it yourself it won't cost too much.

I think its a hassle. S2000s have them, and it makes them hard to move around the shop, when you have to QUICKLY move a car.

not a lefty so that wouldnt do me any good....but as far as the ignitor being in the ciggarette lighter space...what the hell is that....it should be right next to key.. then it would make a little more sense...

im not sure but i heard that in certain mercedes u dont have to put the key in ignitor but the key has sensors on it so that once the key is in the car u just press the button to start up....now thats hot

That is what late models Renault Laguna have in Europe. You basically carry visit card size chip. Whenever you are in close proximity to the car, doors unlock, you put the car in designated slot and just push a button to start the car.

True, on Maxima it's pointless!
