ECU Questions
ECU Questions
Just a few quick questions and comments on our ECU's. At WOT our ECU's already have a preprogrammed map. This doesnt take into consideration our mods such as Y pipe, intake, whatever. Do aftermarket ECU companies like JWT program the WOT map to compensate for our mods? I can imagine that a few extra HP could be squeezed out of it since with the mods your now bringing in and taking out alot more air and fuel. Just a curious question I guess.
Also with a MEVI, once again our ECU wasnt originally programmed for it, would an ECU from a Cefiro fit in and maybe run a little better than our stock ECU with a MEVI?

- By changing the Y pipe, how would the ECU take advantage of it? Such a mod only frees up power which was blocked by the smaller pipes and other blockages in the stock pipe. So I dont know if theres anything you can do to the ECU to make it take advantage of this. Now the MEVI, all you have to do is enable/disable it to take advantage of it. This is most likly is done by the ECU in middle eastern maximas. Here we use alternatives such as the HARLAN RPM SWITCH.
- Same goes for the intake. The engine will breath as much air as it can and push out as much as it can. ECU cannot help these two things. However, an aggressive CAM will take advantage and allow the engine to get more air in.
- The only thing the ECU can do is change the AIR/FUEL mixture and adjust the timing. These two things will give u power. Again, the ECU adjusts the A/F and timing based on the feedback it recieved from the KS and O2 sensors.
Am i missing something here?
