***rack and pinion bushings??????

somebody mentioned something about changing R&P bushing may help tightning the sloopy steering anyone done this also any other ino on this bushing any pics illustration size material

look at your sway bar bushings and endlinks first -those little bastards make huge difference in steering wheel feel !

already change them including the control arm bushing all of them replaced with ES but i want to know more about the R&P bushings like size any aftermarket avaliable everything

i know maxima's steering are not very tight but lately i'm feeling its way to loose since everything in front suspension ans steering is NEW including all bushings replaced by urethane the only thing left to replace are those bushings so i think i may have a project for the next weekend

btw where do you bough yours,how much ,any write ups does the haynes manual show you how to ?

Changing those bushing is not going to make your steering any tighter. They only hold the rack & pinion in place. If the rack was loose, you'd have excessive road wandering, not loose steering.

Unfortunately the 95-98 models have very loose (over boosted) steering. That was changed in the 99 model which has a much tigher feel.

looking at this image i notice theres a few joints in the steering column that may worn out over time (like 7 years) and may give our cars some free play and make steering feel loose
take a look at #4 and #6 wich is a coupling

that excessive road wandering is what i want to get rid of
