maxima vs. celica gts...bad news...

well, it was like 3 am and i was driving over to my girls house, and this blue celica gts, 2002, was revving his engine while we were driving, and i thought we could make it interesting. we got the next stoplights, and we hit it when the lights turns green. he drops his clutch, and spins way too much, so im leading by a half car by the time i shift into 2nd, and was ahead the same til he shifted into third and started creepin on me. we're neck n neck and i guess we passed a cop somewhere throughout this race, and we're doing 95 when i see the red and blue in the distance in my rearview. when i saw the cop, the celica was ahead. my front end was at the front of his front wheel well. ended up with $367 racing fine, and $367 reckless driving.

what pi$$es me off the most about this whole thing is that I lost. 1/4 mile I woulda had him, but whatever. too bad my y pipe wasnt here yet. So dont street race, i learned my lesson the hard way

feel free to flame me up for this, i know street racing is illegal, and very dangerous, but i couldnt resist it.

Holy crap, $700+ for the one instance?! I don't want to imagine what's going to happen to your insurance premium...

ditto, did he get roped over as well, i guess the cop would have went for the slower car, no offense.

all in all, id say you got off pretty easy. down here if you get caught racing they have the right to take your car away FOR GOOD!!!!!!!! i heard of it happened a couple times.

Youre lucky you were racing up in sheboygan. If you get caught down here in Milwaukee, ecpecially on Hyw 100, you could have ended up with the same fine, and haveing your car towed to a local impoud, were you have to pay more to get it back. I have heard of this happen to a few unlucky people.

So you think you learned it hard way?
here's my HARD way....

I was racing my friend(don't wanna say what kind of car it was, it was waste of gas anyways)....and just like your case, police must seen us racing. I didn't know police was actually following us until I got into accident during the race. After I got into accident, police showed up 30 seconds later.
make the long story short, my fine was like this:

Car repair : $1700
Ticket : $441
CalTrans Days : 20 Days
Probation : 3 Years
and 3 points for:
-getting involved in speeding contest
-going over 100 MPH on HWY
-accident caused by me.

I never race after that happened.....

the other guy also pulled over when the lights went on. i got 6 points per ticket, and we are allowed 12 points before you lose your license. I'm getting a lawyer to reduce the tickets and points, and also taking driving classes to get back at least three points.

I didnt mention the other part of the story, where my friend was in his 2.0 jetta following us just to watch, so he was going awfully fast too, and when he saw the lights, he sped away, while me and the celica stopped, and the cop got our plates (according to him), and chased after the jetta. ends up my friend int he jetta got arrested at gun point, sat in jail til 5 am, 1200 in tickets. Still dunno why he tried getting away, but w/e. Cops showed up at 630 am this morning to let me know what i was going to receive. What a crazy night I tell ya!

Sounds alittle like the situation that happened last night. Except I was lucky because I was using my head. Anyway, last night it's around 12:45am & I'm on my way home from my friends house. We have been converting a old 88 VW fox into a lifted buggy. Only reason I mention that is because were using my old stock SE springs to lift it. Turns out the fit perfectly. Anyhow back to the story! Well I'm already aware that here in California all available officers will be on duty until Tuesday so I already told myself to be extra careful until then since my license is already on probation as it is. Well I'm driving down the Blvd. and these two kids pull up next to me. One of them is driving a GSR Integra all decked out & the other one is driving a Civic hatchback roll cage, racing seat no interior. It looked like they were on there way home from the race track. We have friday night grude racing where I live & my friends house is right down the street from the track. So The Integra pulls up right next to me & his friend is right behind him. Now I'm already aware of the cop sitch & that we are on a very stupid road to try & get our race on so I'm just chillin out. Well the Integra stomps on it to let me know he wants to race & his friend in the civic does the same but slows down to get behind me. So know I have the Integra next to me & the civic behind me. So when the next light turns green the Integra gets on it & jump's out about a car ahead of me. Thats when I nail it and just take off from both of them. As soon as I was about 3 cars ahead I let off having never exceeded the speed limit 50mph. And just start to cruise, I just wanted to let them know who not to f_ck with. So right after I let off the two kids take off like stupid ****'s & I get to watch as both of them get pulled over about 40 or 50 yards in front of me. I thought that was precious, cause I was able to have fun & not get in trouble becuase I was being cautious. So I guess the point of this story is be aware & alittle smarter when your out driving & it's the holiday's. There are more piggy's on the road & a higher chance that if you slip your gonna fall & fall hard. So be smart!!!!!!!!!

here in jersey, taking driving classes is garbage, cuz it doesn't lower your insurance points, it just keeps you away from teh suspension threshold of 12 points designated by the DMV. the only benefit of a driving class is if u want, say, about 30-50 bux decraese in ur insurance (that's per year, btw) or if u want to actually be attentive in class and become a safe driver

what you should do is this...go to court to try to reduce whatever possible (tho i dont know anything will get reduced since it's so serious)
pay whatever fines imposed and start using cruise control whenever u go 25 or over.

aren't you liable as well to getting pulled over for racing them, regardless of speed limit?

eckohb that sucks *** man :-/... real sorry to hear it (i was going to reccomend turning your lights off and flooring that **** while the celica was pulled over... but you'd probably end up like your friend :-/).

As KashThaRipper said... try to pay off the points in court right on the spot .. it comes off way cheaper that way, my friend got caught doing 70 on a 35 and almost ran over a cop on foot while he was at it.... Paid off a hefty fee for 3-4 points and is now clean

Oh and nostrixoxide good tip... the cops are always swarming during the holidays (also usually during the beggining and ending weeks of months)

Yes I would have been if I didn't slow down long before they ever passed the officer. The officer was in a parking lot way ahead of us & he stopped them after they went flying bye.

thanks big d, always expect a good comment or two from you.

yeah, im going to fight it to the best of my ability. im going to take the classes just to retain my license, i dont know anything about it as it applies to insurance, provided i still have insurance once they find out. oh well, like i said, it was stupid and dangerous, but who's perfect? im only an 18 year old kid, and ill know better next time.

That's what I'm here for, a few more days at least. After that you'll need to find a replacement.
