Re: New Car

I currently have a 97 Maxima GLE.. most of the mods are slowly getting sold but all as well I'm trying to look for a new car in my price range. I'm going to be selling the Maxima but in the mean time i'm continuing to look for a new car. Some choices are

The 2000 - 2003 Maxima
The 2002 or 2003 Altima 3.5 SE

Some things I want are a Moonroof/Sunroof, Leather, and Manual. I know it is very rare to find a manual Maxima from 2000 - 2003, so i've been concentrating on the Altima really hard. I think they are nice luxery cars that can look as good as a maxima hooked up.

Thanks for some opinions in what I should do.

Looking to spend around 9000- 17000...

personally id go for the 3.5 altima. car looks awsome in black or in silver, and it has pottential due to the VQ. interior of the altima is pretty nice too when u get black leather. my dream altima would be a silver altima 3.5 5 speed with black leather interior. 2002 maxima is nice too, i wouldnt go for a 2000 2001 max just because it doesnt have the 3.5L but its still a nice car. you shoulda made a poll lol, my vote is for altima. good luck man

I say you can't go wrong either way. They are both really nice cars, but I would go with a 02 or newer Maxima.

That would be a hard choice. If your looking for more luxury, fit and finish and overall a better luxury car, the maxima hands down. If you looking for a sportier alternative with the same performance (if not better) then get the Altima.

I got a friend who was selling a manual 2k2 alittle while ago. not sure if its still up, or he decided not to sell, i can find out. hes got a full exhuast, y-pipe, flywheel, upraded clutch, intake, its sterling mist/ silver color, with the 17" rims, SE fully loaded with those options. located in CT.

andi i dont think its hard finding manual max's in those years, at least here in ct.

My last choice would be the 2000 or 2001 Maxima. Find a good 2002 or 2003.

Another thing to consider maybe - since the quality out of the US Nissan plant has been iffy, is that that Max's are Japan made... the Alty's are made here.. right? I know they are working around the clock sorting out issues at the Smyrna, TN plant - the Quest, Titan, Armada - all have lots of initial quality defects... Nissan came in last in one of the recent survey of initial quality.

Which US plant is the Altima made at?
