can anything cause rpms to rise slower then usual?

pretty much anything related to the car will make your rpms go slower or faster.

bad Knock Sensor
or
a U-Haul trailer on the back with 2000 pounds on it.

what guinader said knock sensor, tahts why i checked for codes once, would lag at times around 2000 rpms and code 0304 came up after that
