Error code 0301 - replace ECM. Is this critical?

My husband says since the car runs fine I can ignore the error and not replace the ECM. I think it should be replaced.
Can anyone advise the correct course of action?
Please help this girl who loves her 95 SE!

P0301 is a misfire on cyl #1. why you would have to replace the ECM is unknown to me.

clear the code and see if it returns. you should be able to feel a miss.

No it's not. PXXXX are different from DTC read by turning the screw on the ECU.

Like I told you earlier, I would replace the ECU, do you know anyone with a 95-96 maxima or I30? If so, swap out hte ECU for a few hours and see if you get hte code on their ECU or if you car runs better with thier ECU.

Where is Phelan? I'm in So-Cal with a 95 SE, 5 speed though. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter.

Phelan is in the high desert - near Victorville.
As I understand it, the ECU must be for an AT.

Hmmm.......I gotta find out from Nismo if that is so. He had an automatic and converted to manual. He didn't mention about changing ECU too but his is a 97-99 GXE. Come to think of it, I think he got a 95 ECU since they are better than the others.

From my understanding, you can use an AT ecu in a Manual but not vise versa. I guess you could in this situation because it is only a test. ou will prob get other codes but that is ok.
