Could it be the FUEL PUMP?

Hello there!

As some of you might remember my 1996 maxima is really slow, i posted something similar before.... did pretty much everyone told me to do, KS, clean TB, change to NGK SP, fuel filter, air filter, check all my codes, change to syntetic oil. After spending quite some money and time n all this. my car is STILL SLOW!! i have been spending everynight going through all the forums i could. One of them mention something about the fuel pump? how can i test my fuel pump? i just dont want to spend anymore $$ n stuff that wont fix my problem. Problem my car is really slow. i tried to keep up with a 1995 tercel and he beat me so sad so sad. first gear is not all that bad, but from 2nd and lower it's just horrible the car wont push at all. may be it's lack of fuel from the fuel pump or may be injectors? thank you very much guys for the info you guys have provided me n the past and for the help you guys are still giving me i really hope i get the the bottom of this...

Check my ECU? as n the codes? i did check all my codes and everything is fine. now that i have changed the bad things i had. i also have a 1995 gxe 5sp max. could take that ECU and put it n my 1996 SE(i think) 5sp max and test it. or i can take it somewhere where they can actually check if the ECU is working properly? can give me a bit more feedback n this? thank you for the reply tho

just get an ECU from same year and same tranny (auto or 5spd) and hook it up. see if that helps. it did for me. mine was fried. and my fried ecu thews error codes and still staret dhte car but ran it like sh*t. i had so much fuel that it wasn't burning. was ****ing out of the exhuast! either that or not enough air/fuel mixture. had to do with something like that. now it runs better. i chanegd my ecu. just try it. takes alittle time to pull out the ecu, biut worth a try. you can hook up the other ECU WITHOUT removing your present one by take the cover off the opassenger side, and just unhooking the harness and hooking it up on an angle. thast what i did. hope this helps.

Yeah i took my ECU from my 1995 before. IT WAS A PAIN, but nothin i can't do. 95-96 i guess have almost the same ECU both of my cars are 5sp. i just dont gonna go spend more money n this. what i was wounder was that my 1996 SE has feature then my 95 GXE. anyways today im going to check the fuel pump, and exchange ECU's if none of that works, im going to put the car for sale and may be buy a newer one, i just dont want to spend anymore money that is not fixing my problem that's all ... thanx for the replys

Switch the ECU with somebody with the same Year and Tranny.
Sounds like your ECU is busted and is retarding the cylinder fires as an involuntary precaution.
