A step backwards

I hated how my short ram intake sound took over the exhaust sound at 3k rpms, so i went back to stock. can't hear the intake anymore, but the exhaust still gets quiet above 3k rpms. i do like the pickup at low end now, but miss the top end i gained when i had the intake on...and besides my engine bay looking more cluttered again. pretty much a lose lose situtation if you think about it. does any one know a remedy to have my exhaust sound throughout the powerband instead of cutting out? i have a feeling it has to do with the precats which will hopefully be gone within the next 2 months, but what about the resonator?

get a y-pipe & high-flow cat. And if you want the sound at every RPM, get the Stillen muffler. Cant go wrong there. If you want noise, cant go wrong with stealin.

it's not so much that i want it to be louder, but more full through out the powerband, which is why i think if i just get a ypipe and get rid of the resonator i'll be fine...but if anyone else can give me some insight on this that'd be great.

If you get rid of the resonator just be ready to join the "my maxima sounds like a damn lawn mower" club. You are talking about the b-pipe resonator right?

if by b-pipe resonator you mean the resonator in the back middle before the muffler, then yes, that is the resonator i'm talking about.

Don't get rid of the resonator. With a y-pipe that thing will be loud and you will hate yourself for not putting one or two on.

i wouldn't mind opting for a catback setup but that's not in my budget now and for a while. i guess i'll just wait till after i put on the y pipe to see if i want to take the resonator off or not.
