Knock Sensor Code

while i was driving around, my CEL came on. so when i got home i did the self diagnostic and it was a 0304. i was reading a little while ago that that was a knock sensor code. i was just wondering if that needed to be replaced or if something else tripped it.

just be a man and put a 470K ohm resistor like i did it solves the problem untill you get a new knock sensor

The knock sensor doesnt illuminate the check engine light. Something else has to trigger it. Possibly an oxygen sensor. Someone correct me if im wrong.

i've read numerous times on the org that the knock sensor doesnt trigger the CEL. the code comes up but is usually because of a bad 02 sensor.... goto jerry rome nissans website if anything and get em. dont forget the "maxima" discount code. i got the bosch at around 75 a pop......maintenance sucks...im actually going to put them on tommorrow because ive been too busy, but now im tired of losing gas and having to smell the gas burn differently

did u just install anything like a y-pipe? could be a possible leak triggering that too. i would also suggest unplugging your battery over night so u can reset the ecu. the light will probably be off when u hook back up the battery, but wait a few hours...if the light comes back on...id go wit 02 sensor

No, i havent put on a y-pipe, but i did install a CAI pretty recently but I dont think that that would have anything to do with it. But ill try to check out both the knock sensor and the O2 sensor.

Just go to Radio Shack and put a 470ohm Resister.

All the Resister does is keep the car from retarding the timing.
But only use 93 Octane, even though your supposed to any how.
You don't want a knock with out a knock sensor. If you have mods like intake exhaust. The mod is great. Because your knock sensor will hear the extra noise under your hood and think its knock and retard your timing. So do yourself a favor find the wire connector going to the knock sensor wire, and put the resister there. peace

This is just info to help you out, Im not responsable for you doing this mod.

It works great for me.
