My car tops out at 120 why?

Why does my car only top out at 120? I shift into overdrive when at 6500RPMS at about 110-115MPH, and then fourth gear comes in doesn't move past 4000RPMS and tops out at 120. Why???

You probably have a GLE or GXE. Give me your VIN, I'll check if you want.

GXE's with C&C don't have governors (like mine).

Check the HowTO's or FAQ's and it shows you how to gid rid of it, if you want.

I don't see how it is possible to be bouncing off the revlimiter in 3rd(overdrive) and only be at 117mph. You should be at 127. Your KS is prob dead too, so that is helping your car go any faster.

I wasn't bouncing off the limiter, yes my car is a GXE, mods are CAI, Downpipe, B Pipe, and Rear Muffler, knock sensor is not dead I checked that. The car seems very powerful, but yea I'm guessing it is governed. What can I do about that?

Like I said, read the FAQ's or Howto's on how to remove the limiter if you have it.

In 3rd gear, try to redline it. 127 at 6500rpm. If it won't go past 120 in 3rd or 4th gen you have the govener

well, if you are electronically inclined, you should wire your self a switch. i think this has been posted in the faq's. the limiter wire is somewhere under the passenger dash. it's like pinkish. i don't really remember. but, find that wire, cut it, and extend the wire to a switch, and you can turn it on of off near 120mph for a few seconds. that'll not trigger the cel...

how many seconds post 117mph, before you get a CEL? (once you flip the switch I mean)

I've been thinking of doing this!
