engline runs louder w/ the A/C on?

since ive installed my ypipe... ive noticed that the engine runs alot louder w/ the a/c on?

is this supposed to happen?

in other words.. it drones alot more than w/ it on than it does w/ it off.

Well when you have the a/c on the car needs to use more of the engine to maintain the speed you are going. Also your car should idle alittle higher and this could contribute to the droning.

yeah what they said. the AC runs off the pulleys, i think, to compress the air. so the engines rpm raises to make up for the lost power, therefore making it a bit louder. thast why you get less mpg with it on too.

I love my A/C compressor.
I cannot go without it here in July in Mississippi without it. I would just melt into a puddle and slide out the door.

Mine is louder too.
I don't like the sound, but I love the feeling.

I loved how my car sounded with the AC on. The exhaust note was awesome. Ah, the good ole' days.

How can you say the car sounded good witht eh AC on, that thing sounds like the engine has no oil at all.

My car runs pretty loud and def don't like the sound of it. No choice though 90 degree weather and 80% humidity kills you out here

With the A/C on, do your cars feel like they run "Not as Smooth" ?? I can drive around all day without the A/C on then I click it on and my car doesnt feel normal any more...just not smooth
