Engine Connection http://engineconnection.com/ lists a remanufactured VQ30DE for $4K with a 3-year warranty. You install it yourself or have your professional service provider do the swap. I regard this $4K as an upper limit. You can certainly find lower prices but maybe lower quality too.

A compression test should be done so you will know if you really need an engine or just a valve job.

There are companies which import used engines from Japan and sell at low prices. I've heard some bad things about them. However, you might get a good used engine from a local auto parts recycler (junkyard) out of a wrecked car you can look at and verify the mileage. That could be a good alternative. If the wrecked car was hit in the back the engine should be good. If it had been hit in the front I'd shy away from it.

Thanks for the response Daniel B. Well Ive found several engines from reputable recycle places around here from rear ended maxes for 785.00 for the engine with a warranty...well this is another thing..how much do u think it'll be to pull and drop the 785.00 engine in...the only reason this swap is being done is because his motor is high mileage and he want to bulletproof it for when he install NOS and he don't want to put it on a 120k motor. Thanks for future advice.

Or can this all be disregarded if a good valve job is done even tho the motore has hi mileage but overall good condition

Oh just to add another thing not pull the motor for the new engine due to already being pulled out of the car by the company so all that needs to be done is for it to be delivered to the shop doin the install so it's basically pulling the old and reinstalling the new

Bulletproof? Don't delude yourself. Maybe a stock VQ30DE deserves that name but major mods such as Nitrous and Supercharger stress internal parts beyond design limits.

I have this suggestion: install the Nitrous on the existing motor. Running Nitrous is a learning procedure and just one mistake can destroy an engine. Let that one mistake be made on an old engine... and then invest in a rebuild or a replacement engine.

I prefer not to estimate labor charges because labor rate varies from place to place. In general the rate is higher in urban areas and lower in rural areas. Removing and replacing the engine might take ten hours.
