Car Dynoed

Had my car dynoed on a portable Mustang Dyno last week. The numbers it came up with were very disappointing. 139.8hp@5750 rpm and 145.9tq@4500 rpm. I have an autotragic with only a muffler at the time of the dyno. The car was taken to 100mph with O/D off. Besides being extremely concerned with the numbers, I am even more worried about the huge dip in my graph. Any one know what is going on here?

Those number are horrible. I thought stock was at least 160HP at the wheels. Maybe the dyno you did it on is messed up. I don't know a whole lot, but I hear people say check codes for knock sensor, but you probably already know that, so I can't tell you anything you don't know. Sorry.

Wait...why is the weight of the car 4250 lbs. on that chart?? Since it was done on a mustang dyno, the dyno might have overcompensated for the weight, killing your output. Just a guess...

auto takes away about 20-25% hp to the wheels..so 150 ish wheel hp is about right

stick robbs aabout 15% hp. so its about 160-165 at the wheels stock.

that dyno thinks your car weights 4200 lbs..so you should add a few hp

on the real power curve, the max flattens out at around 2500-3000. then pulls agaon after 3.. it shouldnt dip like that though

use a real dyno, numbers should look better, those numbers look right if you take in account the weight. cept for the massive drops.

The fact that you're using a mustang dyno has much to do with it too. It's not called a mustang dyno cause it's made to dyno ford mustangs.

As for the KS, i have the resistor in there bypassing it until i can get a new one. And also for the weight that was on the dyno, the gvwr of my car is like 4235, so i had to guess the weight since i wasn't sure of it offhand and the car wasn't right by me to look. these numbers and that dip are very concerning to me, and i'm hoping i can get on a dynojet or some dyno that deals mainly with fwd vehicles to get some more accurate numbers. Another reason for that dip was thrown at me....i put my stock airbox back in, and i might have somewhere lost air to the engine causing that dip and loss in hp.

fyi the ks bypass is not really a fix........it doesnt have the benefits of a fully working ks so thats part of your issue for sure, and is also to account for the dip in power.

The Mustang's probably not at fault. Go back to the shop and have them refigure your numbers using the correct weight ie 3250ish or whatever. Taking 1000lbs off should make a big diff. Can't see the graph so no comment on the dip.

Well this has been quite a confusing issue to me as fars as the weight of the maxima goes. i know the 95/96s are a little lighter than the rest of the later maximas however I often see maximas listed as weight 3,000-3,200lbs. On the inside of the door on mine it does say 4250lbs as being the weignt. 1,000 lbs is a HUUUGE difference. Now i want to atke my car to have it weighed.

The weight listed on the door is the MAXIMUM weight the car can handle including passengers, cargo and fuel.

yeah man, your car doesn't weigh over 2 tons. look for another number on the door jamb. something in the 3100-3200 range. that's how much your car weighs.

yeah, theres a website somewhere that you can convert those numbers to correct ones... because it was a mustang dyno, it takes away alot of the power.... and stock is 190, at the flywheel... seeing that its an auto, like people said, it'll take away even more at the wheels.....

Your car should weigh 3001 LBS full of all fluids AKA curb weight.
