kyb-GR2 with Maxspeed springs

kyb-GR2 with Maxspeed springs. Does anyone have this setup? Does it keep the wheel/rubber on the ground very good and is the ride quality ok?

I have the GR2/maxspeed also and I think they're fine, they handle pretty good BUT a lot of road noise, especially when going into big bumps. Maxspeeds are crappy springs IMO, the coils touch each other on bumos and it makes a lot of noise. if I had the choice I'd certainly get some other types of springs. Like I said the ride is pretty good no complains there, just the noise is very annoying and frustrating

It's definitely better than stock, but I'd go with some other spring.
like it's mentioned by other member, maxspeed is cheap and crap.

Ive had that setup on my 97GLE for about a week. Very noticable increase in handling, but its definately not even close to a real suspension. But it fits my needs perfectly. Not trying to make a canyon carver out of it, and dont want it slammed so much I scrape on every bump. It definately eliminates the 4x4 look, and kicks the handling up a few notches, but it is also noticably stiffer than stock, but no where close to excessivly. And the price cant be beat.

They will blow. Even the AGX's blow. Get Illuminas.

Ok since the maxspeed's are crap springs what about H&R springs, the next closes spring to stock?? I think the illuminas are a waste of money for my application. I dont plan on adjusting anything. I just want a good strut/shock to keep the wheel on the road and not be bouncy. Don't you guys think the GR-2's will last a while on H&R springs? OR is the H&R springs too soft for the GR-2's?

If the Maxspeeds coils touch each other on bumps what other springs would you suggest? The maxspeed's are stiffer than H&R, the next comparable spring so would I have the same problems with H&R springs because they are softer? Also do you think you might be getting road noise because of your big rims? How long have you had the GR-2's?

Do you have the same problem like NYCmax does with the road noise and the spring coils touching each other over bumps? Do you think the GR2's handle the softness of the Maxspeed's good?

LOL!! Interesting comments. I've had my MaxSpeeds and AGX's for over a year. I'm sitting on 18"s and I havent heard one peep from mine. I also dont drive my car like I'm playing NeedforSpeed, but when I do want to take a freeway onramp pretty hard, I can do it comfortably. I would recommend them. Dont spend more money than you have to.

So not a sound from the maxspeeds ey? What is the difference between Maxspeeds and H&R's? They are both ISO 9001 certified. Maybe the material it is made from? Have you experiened any sagging within the year that you had them? I hate spending more money than i have to!

I dont know the difference between the H&Rs and MaxSpeeds. I do know that my a$$ doesn't sag and I have a system in the trunk.

Read hte FAQ's on how to keep springs from making noise. Maxspeed aren't hte only ones.

I have maxspeeds and GR2s, no noise whatsoever. Sounds completly stock. I think its a great setup, made handling much better, eliminated the 4x4 look, and since I have rough roads around here and snow to deal with in the winter, its the perfect setup. Also, i dont have to worry about scraping. Those who have noises, its not because of the brand of springs, its how you installed them. Could even be loose bolts.

I would reccomend the Maxspeed & GR2 setup for those who want to get rid of the 4x4 look, but dont want the problem of scraping and worrying about the winter. Also, it sits very even.

Got any pics? How long have you had that setup? I'm worried about the GR2's being cheap.

i just got my Maxspeeds with Gr-2's installed...(thanks to the guys that helped) and they are pretty good....the ride is relatively close to stock but u can definatly notice a difference when it coems to handling....the ride is just a tad bit stiffer than stock.....as for the ride height its not too bad...not too much of a drop but still gets rid of some of the wheel gap....(good for me becuase my b-pipe hangs alittle lower)...overall good setup....not to mention....NOT EXPENSIVE....

Thanks for all the replies. When you car settles in it should be a little lower than it is when it is first installed. I'm going to go with the Maxspeed/ gr2 setup!

I also have this setup and the ride is very nice. Not too much bounce and rides close to stock. Cornering is increased by a great amount as well. But if you want a closer ride to stock go with Gr2 w/ H+R.

The best ride with drop would be H&R springs and Tokico Illumina shocks/struts. And Sub-Frame Connectors. That combo is very expensive, buy would give close to stock or better.

I'm not the only one having problems with noise on the Maxspeeds, and it's definitely not the installation. Before was a lot worse, you can see the paint dissapear where the coils touched each other, this happened on the 2 top coils. I bought coil insulators/wraps from courtesy nissan and the noise has gone down a few notches, there's still some though.
Handling wise I think they're good and they're cheap. But if I had the choice I'd give H+R or eibachs a try. Ride height is pretty nice, although I have to be careful on high driveways since I just put a Stillen lip.

I've got GR2's and Progress. Ride is stiffer than stock but not jarring, handling definitely better. Went from this:

To this (about 1.25" drop):

About to move my 300ZX rims over to the Max in a couple weeks...
