Problem with my Tachometer

I bought a 95 Nissan Maxima GLE just last week. I've noticed that my RPM's stays at a constant level. When I rev the engine or step on the gas after taking a turn the RPM's go up to 2.5 then stops while still steping on the gas and goes back down to just about 1 RPM. Any suggestions?

The person who posted this is a friend so I will bump this up. I doubt that it is the needle getting stuck as he has stock gauges, if it is a shorted out wire, or wiring problem is there really anything he can do short of bringing the car to the dealer an having some KY ready? It’s odd because it works, the highest I have ever seen it go is 3 grand, but it usually stops at 2k or 2.5k.

Is yours a stick or auto? If manual, sounds like the clutch to me, same thing happens when the cltch starts slipping. You did just buy it, could of bought it wit a bad clutch. If iIm wrong, sorry to have scared you.
