I was wondering where the intake resonators were on my 99, if they could be removed, and if it would yield any power?

Thanks

The resonator is underneath you battery

You'll see that from the intake scoop at the front and to the right of center, there is a balck plastic scoop. Follow the piping and you'll see it split into two. One pipe goes underneath the battery and into a box and the other goes to the intake. If you have an intake, I don't see wow you'd gain much. If you have a stock air filter setup and remove the resonator, it will get louder and gains will not be so big. From a stop, your engine will still suck air from a long straw, but at least the air goes directly to the engine. Then again if you are not an agressive driver and accelerate smoothly, your car is not exactly gasping for air.

There was a post Jan 18, 2001 by Dave B, about how to modify the stock intake to be a poor-boy's CAI that will be of interest to you. Even if you don't do this it has a lot of the pertintent info you're looking for. Do a search on "Air box filter silencer" or "new intake mod". There's also some track test data to support.
