brightest guage bulbs?

I want to change my stock bulbs in my guages to something brighter in ethier white or blue. I'm thinking of using LED's but not sure which type will be the brightest without any "hot spots". For those who have changed their blubs, what would you recomend?

heres a pic of mine with 6-led bulbs in. there's a few hot spots, but i can live with it. you just get used to it.

Ive tried all the LEDS from inverted cone to 4 cluster to 6 cluster and they are not as I expected so I went back to bulbs. I wanted a pure white light and LEDs wont give you pure white, they end up looking "hyper white"

Out of all the different types of leds that you've used, which would you say gave you the most light output without or very little hot spots?

Sanding LEDs?

I read somewhere that if you sand the tips of the LEDs to increase the opacity, you would reduce the hotspots. Anyone try this? It makes sense and some of the light would be reflected thru the sides.

98-99 Maxima's uses #74 bulbs. Some people modded it so they fit #194 bulbs.
