New "improved" ignition coils
I need to replace the ignition coils on my 99 SE and the dealer says they have improved the design to make them more reliable. I want to do it myself, but I have found two brands of coils Hanshin and Mitsubishi. Does anyone know which ones I should get?

mine came stock with Mitsubishi. i replaced them after 110,000 miles on them. they are really easy to replace. order then from www.jerryromenissan.com they cost 50-60 bucks. when you check out use promo code "maxima" to save 12% off the list. so you'll save about 25% off.

That's funny. The 95-96 use the Hanshin coils maybe the 97-98 as well. I have had ZERO problems with them and none of my max friends have complained either, except the guy with the 99. Do the 99 use the hanshins or the mitsubishi coils?

Nissan changed the coils for the 99 maxima right? Why did they do that? If it ain't broke don't fix it as they say. With nissan it's apparently if it ain't broke brake it and make the consumer buy new ones. Did the mitsubishi coils come stock with the 5th gens?

So again, why did nissan change the coils? I haven't heard anything about bad coils from people with 95-98 maximas. The all of a sudden the 99-2k maximas have nothing but trouble with them. Or did they maybe change the main coil that sends the signal to the individual coils?

I might be wrong but I thought I read somewhere that Hanshin did a design change (read: Cheaper) w/out telling Nissan and that is what happened. Of course Nissan wouldn't fess up if this did happen as it would mean a TSB for everyone.
This is only what I heard though...don't quote me.
