ticking noise from wheels/tires

When I'm slowly rolling I can hear a tick..tick..tick..tick.. noise coming from both my front wheels. The noise can be described as.. when you're walking with your shoe laces untied.. the noise the laces make when it hits the other shoe.. haha Really don't know how to say it better, but yea. any ideas?

Also, soon to do my own plugs n other maintenance.. I cant really afford a torque wrench right now. What's the risk/damage in not tightening or overtightening the plug? Thanks

Is it when you're turning?

Check your CV's... Mine are on the way out, but not ticking yet... There are a few threads here about it, or check http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/400

You can't afford the $25 one or the "clicker" (more expensive type)? The $25 bar type would work fine. You could also borrow one from autozone.

*edit* About FutureProof's post, I believe CV's should only click when turning, so if it happens when going straight then it is probably something else. It wouldn't hurt to get under there and see if the boots are ripped.

check your tires for rocks stuck in the tread. my tires always tick because of rocks.

yea the rock or nail thing is most likely if it ticks while not turning.

btw, completely off topic, why do people blur out their license plates such as the pictures in the signature above? so people can't see it? what about everybody else driving on road next to you every day that can see it in plain view?

i dunno really, just incase i really **** someone off online they don't know exactly what car is mine if they see it and want to break into it or vandalize it. And for people that know i got a screen, subs, dvd player and everything else in my car. Just to make me feel better if my car or stuff gets jacked that i know it wasn't because someone online saw my license plate number and knew what i had in my car.

You could have put the wheels on the wrong way. Usually tires have a certain rotational direction that they have to be going in order for them to properly work. I had the same problem when I took off my 19s and put on my stock to go to the track. The stock started to tick constantly. I switched the tires the next day and the tick went away.

As for the plugs, I don't know what damage could occur. To put a good rule to tighen plugs is when they are snug just turn it another 90 degrees.
