Axle assembly removal?

Having replaced the drivers side axle assembly already on my '95 GLE due to a CV boot that was badly torn (easier than I thought it would be, air tools helped), I'm now working on the passenger side.

When it came time to remove the drivers side, it only took a moderate tug to remove the axle from the tranny side once the outside was free of the wheel hub. Unfortunately, the passenger side won't budge. My first attempt resulted in the outer CV joint coming apart, the inner CV joint came apart on my second attempt to pull it free.

Is there a trick to getting the passengers side off? I've pulled and pried, but so far no luck.

Thanks in advance

if i remember correctly, its either the croos member or the y-pipe that gets in the way. but i do remember the passenger side being a he!! lot harder to remove than the driver side. if you get under the car you can see what it is getting held on by, its just been a while so i cant really remember. if no one else knows what it is, just look in a haynes manual. but good luck

three bolts hold the passenger side axle in the support bearing bracket. spray it down with pb blaster or the like, remove the bolts, work the bearing back & forth to free it, may have to tap with hammer or twist with large pliers, then pull whole axle out.

Thanks! I was hoping I wouldn't have to remove those difficult-to-reach bolts since the drivers side just popped out, but it looks like I have some bloody knuckles in my future.
