replacement rotors

replacement rotors
Well I think I have warped rotors. When the car is in motion is makes a metal on metal contact sound. Then when I step on brakes sound goes away. I guess it is because they are the stock rotors and I have 90,000 miles and they finally gave out in the houston heat.
Anyone know a place for cheap, reliable replacement rotors. I don't want them to warp again.

Not sure how you diagnosed metal on metal as warped rotors.... in any case, you can get cheap rotors from Autozone for 20 bucks a piece (fronts)... I prefer going with what I consider a better quality rotor (others may disagree) -and I opt for Nissan rotors - which run about 60 bucks a piece. (try jrnissanparts.com). You can also go in between, with Raybestos rotors, you can see a variety of brands/prices at rockauto.com or autozone.com.

Metal to metal could be brake pads, calipers, rotors, or even brake master cylinder going bad. Go get a free brake inspection to find out for sure. As far as rotors are concerned, you can try Ebay. Most deals on there are for the slotted/drilled rotors and can vary in price and manufacturer. I got regular Brembo's on mine and love them. Team it up with a good brake pad for safe measure.

if u want low priced quality rotors, go to the group buy forum and check out automax95's thread. He's been selling a lot of rotors and pads -- you can get zinc coated brembo blanks for about $80 a pair. I think shipping runs about 25lbs, which isn't bad considering the weight of the damn rotors...

Well when he car is in motion it makes a sound every time the wheel goes around once. And the previous day I had to slam on the breaks going pretty fast and I figured that I warped the rotors.

Sounds like your calipers might not be letting go all the way while driving normally. I mean, they are staying on your rotor somehow or something.
As far as the replacement rotors, just go to a local parts store and get some OEM-style blanks for about $20 each. I would not recommend getting the NIssan ones because they are just as thin and not made of any more durable material than the cheaper ones. The ones that I warped were Nissan ones. The ones I have now have not warped in over 25k miles and they are the cheap ones.

I would also recommend the cheap NAPA/whatever rotors unless you need serious brake performance. I have never had any problem with the cheap rotors. Plus, even if the cheap ones warp, you could replace them 2-3 times for the cost of Nissan rotors(assuming you do it yourself).
