ebay cf hoods and my starter

two quick questions my fellow orgers:

1. are the cf hoods i see on ebay good quality and legit? they are cheaper then red line max and i hear redline's quality is bad to boot. i'v seen cf hoods CHEAP i mean a buy it now price of 200 + shipping means about 300-350 TOPS in my hands. compaired to 510 shipped to my door from redline these seem like great deals. hows everyone's luck been with them? should i be worried about getting a bad quality hood that doesn't fit well? i need to repaint my hood and it seems to me i can buy a brand new cf hood for the price of repainting...

2. i think my starter is dead. it makes a loud click noise when i try and turn her over. no reving at all. not good! i got a quote of 180 for a rebuilt bosch + 60 core charge from pepboys. local place wants 220 but didn't specify if that was with or without the core, i'm assuming rebuilt. usually i grab my parts online when i can but i have this weekend off and need my car running before the end of it. i have a ****ing 55+ hr work week comming up. how bad am i getting ripped off? how much is a brand new one?

thanks in advance guys,

jon

ps before you flame about how i'm getting a unpainted cf hood and all, it will match my trunk

man the cf hood is a tough one. if it is cheap then it will destroy the overall look of the max making it look cheap, like in my case.

The big things are fitment and quality. If fitment is poor its going to look even worse, and you can expect the outside elements to get in the engine bay such as water (which equals rust), pollen, dirt and who knows what else, lol !

With quality mine was bad right out of the box with scratches, chips and a few small dents. With the pressure of the delievery people and trying to eye the hood in the wrapping and box it can be tough to see alot of these things until its on the car. Also, how well will it hold up ? With little effort my latch crumbled and if I didnt have hood pins i would be in big trouble.

While other people might have much better luck than me. The cf hood is the worst mod I have ever done.

all that said, this hood could be just as good as mine or far worse. Maybe someone will come along to vouch for it. But the cheaper the price it really makes you wonder.

Another thing to consider is the return policy !!

Mine comes off this month !

i got a brand new starter from the dealership for about 220 and did the work my self which took about an hour. while a week later when my moms starter died on her altima and the same dealership quoted me the same price for the starter, she went to a body shop and replaced it for 160 total. her's was probably rebuild, not sure

just check out other body shops, and 220 with labor is a pretty good price
