there's only two wires that go to the button. i think u'd be better off just buying a switch/button instead of trying to rip it off the stock shifter. i don't think u can pull the darn thing outta the shifter without ripping it open

maximus,
You have to take out the center console(2 screws in the rear) Pull it off. Take out the 2 screws on the shifter. Then you'll want to cut the overdrive button wires, which will be connected to a connecter under the shift box. THen just pull up on the lever and it should come out. The Button is going to pop out so don't be surprised when it happens. As for the plastic piece on the shifter rod, you'll want to put your shifter on first and see if that plastic piece works with it by screwing it into place and shifting. I changed mine to a levoc wood/chrome and I mistakenly ripped the plastic piece off and then ended up having to attach something to the end of the rod because it wasn't long enough to shift. You'll have to cut the plastic off if you need to. Hope this helps.
