I just got my 96 with 76k miles. No problems at all. From what others tell me it's smooth as butter, how would I know what a 5spd should feel like. There is a leak but it seems that a sensor wasn't put in tight enough so I got that fixed, I hope.

My 1995 5spd had a new tranny at about 105,000mi. My dad's 97 5spd had a new tranny around 60-70,000mi, but the car did have a turbo, so that probably had something to do with it.

My 97 I30T has 108k (that means 108,000) on it. i just put valvoline in it when I changed the clutch to exedy. Now it shifts like there is a pillow between my gears, even got 3rd gear to chirp....yeah, greatest car in the world...

142000 miles on mine and I have the skateboard noise from my transmission. I'm pretty sure it's a input gear. I don't believe it will affect anything for now so I'm not worried.

My 95 Maxima SE has 122k miles and no problems. It had a new clutch at 96k miles, and a clutch master a bit before that. No problems and no odd noises. I'm going to switch to Redline gear oil though.

97 with 84k. I bought the car at 77k. It's on the original clutch and I think it's never had the gear oil changed (I will be soon). It's nice, but when I get in my 00 5 speed I realize that the 00's tranny is much smoother.

I bought my 1996 SE 5 spd. with 132xxx on the odometer. When I got home, it was leaking tranny oil. It was probably a mainshaft/differential bearing combination as far as the problem. My car was brought to the dealer I got it from, to have a '98 transmission put in (67xxx mi on that one), only to have the dealer find out that that one leaks too. However, this leak was caused by a visible crack in the bottom of the tranny, which is why I don't know how they missed it when they "checked it over for problems."

Got a 95 SE with 120K, new clutch at 115K. Transmission started to leak. Was told it was reverse idler gear failed, tore up my races. Not the carrier bearing. Took a while but got it rebuilt, sent from dealer to Phoenix Reman. Took a long time to ship but seems to run fine.
