relocating knock sensor safe?

ok i read a bunch of stuff on how people relocated there knock sensor in there new sentra's and what a big differnce it makes. is this safe in our cars if i run strickly 93 octane or can i bust my engine? what i read was somone moved there knock sensor to the firewall and wrapped the sensor part in electrical tape to insulate it and make sure it wouldnt pick any vibrations up. is that safe to do for our cars or is that a waste of time and i should just install where the old one is? cause i am getting my new one very soon and if that works good i will just do that but it seems kinda risky like it might hurt my engine but idk any feedback is cool -ryan

The knock sensor is installed for a reason - to detect knock and protect the engine from detonation. It can't do that from the firewall wrapped in tape.

Having it on the firewall would certainly make it easier to change! LOL
