Alternator

My Alternator went out today and it was a pain in the ***. I went and bought a battery because a guy told me that is what it was. I installed the battery car still cut off. I tried to take the battery back and they would not take it because I installed it. I had to buy a Alternator and i swear I should have paid someone to install it. It has been the worst thing I have had to do on my car. Let me know if you had the same problems as I did.

yep. i pulled the radiator for clearance in the front, and pulled the ac compressor and dropped the alternator out the bottom to replace it. took me a solid 2 hours to git 'er done. that of course included beer breaks.

I changed myne out about a two months ago. It was a B!tch to get out but after seeing how much money I saved, I'd do it again.

I just pulled mine out as well, although my problem ended up being the starter. Definately a pain in the a$$ job. Thank you autozone for your excellent diagnostic tool..... I would do it over again though.

I've swapped my alterator about 3 times since buying my car and I refused to buy another Hitachi
alternator. I went for a custom build job pushing 210amps.

Yup! I did mine a few months back, and I'd do it again as well. It was a task, but it was fun.

I took it into the local shop. It's a PITA if you do not have a hydraulic lift and an air wrench (remove the front tire, splash shield loosen the belts. I watched now that was fun. However, the starter is a fun job less than 45 minutes and while I was at it at the same time 6 minutes for the fuel filter since everything was out of the way for the starter.
