I have seen a bunch of people around the org leightening up there max's and i was wondering what stuff you have been doing to lighten up your max. Please let me know thanks- I want to hit the track sometime in the next few weeks and would like to get the best time i can - i have a bunch of cash riding on my time so i need to keep it as low as possible -so shaving a few punds might help a lil- my friend thinks he will beat me but i would like to kill him thanks again

what kind of car does you friend have?
Although I haven't done anything to reduce weight, you can take out spare tire, jack, etc., back seat, passenger seat, stereo components. That should add up to about 100 lbs. off or so, give or take a couple. If you really wanna get serious, buy some lightweight body pieces. I don't know how good of a driver you are, or if your running an auto/manual maxima, but the best advice anyone can give you is practice, esp. if you are unfamiliar with track events, and the "count-down tree". If you're auto, do the drop resistor mod if nothing else. This will make your shifts very hard/quick, and at the highest rpm possible. Again, practice makes perfect, but if you're dedicated to losing weight, the previous stuff will help a lot.

GUT it out
As you can see I took out some (hehe some!) weight. I removed the floor tar/sound deadening. I weighed 2800 lbs, i think the scale rounded up, whith this set up. I never took it to the track. But with the trunk empty, lighter wheels, and back seat out i was .2-.5 sec quicker at the track. I would say remove everything in the trunk, floor mats, back seat. Try it out.

No Ben I ran a 15.15@91.4 in street trim with a 2.31 60'. In race trim (with the trunk empty, lighter wheels, and back seat out) I ran 15.15@92.8 with a 2.34 60', and slower 1/8 mile times. I had one good launch, that night but missed 3rd gear. The run was:
60' 2.248
330' 6.330
1/8 9.999 @ 67.36
1000' 13.064
1/4 15.596 @ 88.99
Which with my normal shifting had been about a 14.8. The whole night my car was about .5 sec quicker than in full street trim.
With all that crap out I could have ran mid/low 14's, well if I had traction. With all the weight reductions I spun the 15" wheels all through 1st and 2nd. The car felt soo friggin fast and I was scared of it. But since i never ran it like that we'll never know .
